Dr. Francis was the first in his family to attend college. He received his undergraduate degree from Albion College in 1984, and his medical degree from Wayne State University in 1988. He completed his Pediatric Residency at Children’s Hospital of Michigan in 1991. He was chosen to serve an additional year as Chief Pediatric Resident until 1992.
In October,1992, he established Northpointe Pediatrics, PC along with Dr. Michelle Desmet Foster.
Dr. Francis is Board Certified in Pediatrics. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at both Wayne State University School of Medicine, and at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan. He has continued to serve as an active member of the Board of Trustees at Children's Hospital of Michigan since 2011.
He is on the medical staff at Ascension St. John Hospital and Corewell Health Grosse Pointe. Additionally, he has worked as a Pediatric Hospitalist at Corewell Health Grosse Pointe (formerly Bon Secours Hospital) since 1990, acting as the Pediatric Director from 2002-2023.
Dr. Francis and his wife Dawn are the proud parents of 5 children. They spend most of their free time involved with their youngest son, Georgie, and his travel hockey.
